Endorsements of US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden by faux progressives like Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren "dont have the cache they think it does," according to Myles Hoenig, an American political analyst and activist.
Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Friday following the high-profile endorsements of Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination.
"Always in a presidential campaign the party wants things to move efficiently and without complications. That makes sense but so often they are blind to other realities that interfere with their overall plan. Sanderss, Obamas and Warrens endorsement of Biden is a way for the party leadership to ensure that there would be no complications at the time of the convention, if there is one, when deciding who the nominee would be," Hoenig said.
"The problem this time is that even though the leadership is rallying behind one person, they are ignoring the millions of voters who matter in all of this," the analyst said.
"The party likes to see Obama as the elder statesman, Warren as the cooperative progressive, and Sanders as the party sheepdog, bringing his supporters along," he stated.
"They are ignoring many things. Obamas shine has dulled. More and more people are seeing how he and his administration set the stage for a Trump administration. Warren is the faux progressive who has been shown to be a backstabber to the progressive movement by first endorsing Clinton in 2016 and then attacking Sanders personally with a claim of sexism and then endorsing Biden, the arch conservative in the race," he said.
"Sanderss integrity is shot as he is now endorsing a candidate who is nearly his opposite with regards to policies and principles. Furthermore, hes gas lighting his supporters in voting for Biden," the analyst said.
"The reality of a unified Democratic Party establishment ticket looks good on the surface but clearly underneath the bottom is falling out. Endorsements by Obama, Sanders and Warren dont have the cache they think it does," he concluded.
